Greetings from Mayor Dennis Cassie, RSW
Coalhurst has been home to many families over the years, and today shines on the prairie of Southern Alberta as a dynamic and growing community. As in most of Alberta, Coalhurst is advancing in size, development, and prosperity. As a new mayor, with the benefit of a new council, a new Chief Administrative Officer and a new Manager of Public Works, we are poised to embrace change and create a community that will care for its residents in years to come. As a team we must pledge to the citizens of Coalhurst our commitments to not only improve the way of life in our town for today but for the future.
Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” Coalhurst is blessed with the gift of volunteers, whose many talents help to weave the fabric of this town. This has been our history and this will be our legacy. Youth, seniors and families give of their time, skills and knowledge in a vast array of activities, from school fundraisers and coaching sports activities to helping families in need. Coalhurst is a town with character and conviction and an enormous sense of spirit – just come to Miner’s Days to experience the excitement!
Coalhurst will work cooperatively and in collaboration with neighbouring communities, towns and cities, to promote growth and sustain vibrancy in the Southern Alberta region. Regionalization of services is a reality of our time and a team effort will ensure the strongest and most positive outcomes and benefits to all communities.
It is a privilege to serve a community rich with history where volunteerism is a way of life, where knowing and trusting your neighbour is a value and where change is embraced with optimism.
Kindest Regards,
Dennis Cassie, RSW

Mayor of Coalhurst
